Eastvale questions we hear often

Which county is Eastvale in?

Eastvale is in Riverside County, at its northwestern corner, directly adjacent to San Bernardino County. That county line matters for property assessment and local registrations, not for your state income tax — California income tax is the same statewide.

My property tax bill includes charges beyond the base rate. Are those deductible?

It depends on the charge. Ad valorem property tax — the portion based on assessed value — is generally deductible if you itemize, subject to the overall state and local tax cap. Special assessments and direct charges levied for local improvements or services are generally not. Newer developments frequently carry both on the same bill, so it is worth reading the itemization rather than deducting the total.

We both work and still owed money last April. Why?

The most common cause is that each employer withholds as if its salary were the household's only income, so the combined income lands in a higher bracket than either withholding calculation assumed. Bonuses withheld at the flat supplemental rate compound it. It is fixable by adjusting Form W-4 for the household rather than each job in isolation.

Do you work with businesses registered outside Riverside County?

Yes. Being on a county line is common here, and it is normal for an Eastvale household to have a business registered in San Bernardino County or elsewhere. County of registration affects local filings, not the federal or state returns.

Do I need a business license from the City of Eastvale?

The city generally requires businesses operating within it to register, home-based businesses included. We identify the state, county and city registrations your situation triggers and confirm current requirements with the city directly.

Is everything really handled remotely?

Yes. Documents go through a secure portal, questions are handled in writing or on a call, meetings are by phone or video, and returns are signed electronically. There is no office to visit.
